| Several elephant at Bali Safari and Marine Park followed nation-wide celebration of Indonesia's 71st Independence Day |
As part of
the nation-wide celebration of Indonesia’s 71st Independence Day on August 17,
2016, the Bali Safari & Marine Park organized a whole range of activities
to strengthen the bond shared between members of the Park’s team via a special
flag-raising ceremony found only at the Gianyar, Bali 40-hectare nature park.
The actual
celebration commenced one week before Independence Day with marching
competitions held among the various divisions of the Park’s working staff. Like
similar marching contests held in communities across the nation, the marches
conducted at the Bali Safari & Marine Park were performed with heart-felt
feelings of patriotic pride. Awards were presented for marching abilities and for
participation in extracurricular sporting activities organized for Park
employees.
The peak of
the several events held to commemorates Indonesia’s 71st Independence Day was a
unique flag-raising ceremony on August
17th. Animals gathered below the flag pole and stood in neat lines, displaying
the respect demanded by the solemnity of the occasion. On hand tosalute the raising
of the red and white Indonesian flag were Sumtran elephants and snakes. As Park workers representing the rich cultural diversity
of the Indonesian archipelago stood shoulder-to-shoulder with animals
representing the 60 species that live at the Park beneath the National flag,
the Indonesian motto of “Bhinneka Tunggal Ika” or “Unity in Diversity” couldn’t
help but come to mind.
The flag-raising
ceremony was also attended by members representing the communities
surrrounding the Park, officials from
various government agencies and members of the Gianyar Regency Administraton.
The General
Manager of the Bali Safari & Marine Park, William Santoso, added:
“Ceremonies and contests such as these form a permanent part of the calendar of
our company. The cooperation and teamwork reflected in these internal activities
play a major role in the various awards for service and excellence won by the
Bali Safri & Marine Park.”
